Countries in Crisis

Millions of families around the world continue to endure unimaginable hardship. Conflict, hunger, displacement and natural disasters have left entire communities struggling to survive.

Across many regions, families wake up each day uncertain of where their next meal will come from or whether they will have a safe place to sleep. Countless others are facing the harsh realities of war, poverty and instability.

Islamic Relief is responding to emergencies across several countries where humanitarian needs remain severe. With your support, life-saving assistance can reach families who are struggling to survive.

Lebanon

In Lebanon, escalating violence from Israel and growing instability have left thousands of families displaced, traumatised and uncertain about their future. Many families urgently need access to food, medical care and safe shelter as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate.

Lebanon is currently facing one of the worst economic crises in modern history, with over 80% of the population living in poverty and thousands of families newly displaced due to ongoing instability.

Sudan

Across Sudan, more than 1,000 days of war have created one of the world’s largest hunger and displacement crises. Entire communities have been forced from their homes as violence continues to devastate the country.

Famine is spreading in several areas where humanitarian aid struggles to reach those most in need, leaving millions of people facing severe food shortages and uncertainty about their survival.

More than 30 million people in Sudan now require humanitarian assistance, around 12.6 million people have been displaced, and over 24 million people are facing acute food insecurity across the country.

Somalia

In Somalia, prolonged drought and climate shocks have wiped out livelihoods across large parts of the country. Crops have failed, livestock have died and families have been forced to flee their homes in search of food and water.

Many displaced families are now surviving on just one meal a day, while children face growing risks of malnutrition.

Currently, around 6 million people are experiencing severe hunger, more than 1.8 million children are suffering from acute malnutrition, and millions of people have been displaced due to drought and conflict.

Syria

After more than fourteen years of crisis, millions of people in Syria remain displaced and dependent on humanitarian aid.

The long-running conflict has destroyed homes, schools and healthcare facilities, leaving families struggling to rebuild their lives. For many communities, recovery remains a distant reality as they continue to live with the lasting impact of years of devastation.

Today, over 16.5 million people in Syria require humanitarian assistance, more than half the population faces food insecurity, and around 7.5 million people remain internally displaced.

Yemen

In Yemen, more than a decade of conflict has left millions of people facing severe hunger and disease. The country is now one of the most food-insecure places in the world.

With much of the healthcare system collapsed and limited access to clean water, families continue to face the daily threat of preventable illness, worsening malnutrition and deepening poverty.

Currently, around 19.5 million people need humanitarian assistance, 17.1 million people are facing food insecurity, and millions of children are suffering from chronic malnutrition.

Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, communities are still recovering from devastating earthquakes that struck in September 2025. Entire villages were destroyed, leaving thousands of families without homes or livelihoods.

At the same time, widespread poverty, drought and the collapse of essential services continue to deepen the humanitarian crisis across the country.

The recent earthquakes affected nearly 500,000 people, leaving thousands injured and close to 2,000 people dead, while millions across the country continue to rely on humanitarian assistance for survival.

Gaza

In Gaza, although a ceasefire is in place, it continues to be violated daily, and the situation remains critical. Over 40,000 children have been left orphaned, at least 1.7 million people have been displaced, and over 1.6 million are facing food insecurity.

With approximately 90% of agricultural land being damaged or destroyed, the region is now almost entirely dependent on humanitarian aid.
