Following the devastating twin earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela on 24 June 2026, humanitarian needs continue to escalate as response efforts shift from search and rescue operations to recovery and emergency relief. More than 1,900 people have lost their lives, over 10,500 people have been injured, and tens of thousands remain missing or unaccounted for as communities continue to grapple with the immense scale of the disaster.
Families across affected areas are facing severe shortages of food, safe water, sanitation facilities and adequate shelter, with many still living in open spaces, schools, churches and makeshift settlements. Health services remain under immense strain as hospitals operate with limited capacity, while damage to critical infrastructure continues to hamper access to vulnerable communities. Islamic Relief remains committed to supporting affected families with lifesaving assistance during this critical phase of the response.
Islamic Relief has been serving vulnerable communities around the world since 1984, responding to conflicts, disasters and humanitarian crises. Today, we are on the ground in Venezuela, working alongside local partners to deliver lifesaving assistance, including food packs, hygiene items and other emergency relief to families affected by the devastating earthquakes.
Every Rand you give means we can reach more affected children, women, and the elderly. Your life-saving donation of:
R1,200 can provide a hygiene kit and essential relief items to a family.
R1,800 can provide an emergency food pack to a family, feeding them for a month.
R5,000 can contribute towards shelter and healthcare support for a family.
