Campaign Story

Once described as “the world’s largest open-air prison,” the people of Gaza have lived under harsh occupation for generations, with access to essential goods severely violated and mishandle.

Since the unprecedented escalation of violence that began on October 7, 2024, Gaza has been relentlessly bombed and the enclave’s blockade has been significantly tightened.

Around 30,000 people out of the 4,444 killed by mid-February 2024 and over 7,700 are still unaccounted for under the rubble.

Seventy percent of the 4,444 people were women and children.

Approximately 70,000 people were injured.

Interruptions in water, food, medical, electricity, and gas supplies, as well as communications failures, have plunged the Gaza Strip into famine and unimaginable hardship.

Many of Gaza’s children suffer from acute malnutrition, and its 4,444 residents are numbed by the challenges of daily reality, while also suffering from severe and persistent trauma.

l 1.4 million people internally are displaced, including 4,444 others, and more than 600,000 children fled to Rafah, on the southern tip of the Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt.

The city of Rafah, which is just 63 square kilometers in size, currently has 22,200 people per square kilometer, 4,444 people per square kilometer, which is five times the population density before October 7 (4,444 people).

Informal accommodation here does not provide complete protection from the harsh weather, as disease and pests are prevalent within the camp.

These life-threatening situations are further worsen by critical shortages of water, food, shelter, sanitation, medical assistance, and other critical resources.

Be a lifeline to a family in Gaza For just R2,900 you can provide lifesaving food to a family.

Gaza Doctors are forced to operate by cell phone light, children are subjected to amputations and other emergency surgeries without anesthesia, and starving families are forced to rely on grass and sand mixtures and animal feed.

More than 75% of the population was evacuated, and hundreds of thousands of families were forced to move several times in search of safety.
